Since 1984, Share Our Strength® has led the fight against hunger and poverty by inspiring and organizing individuals and businesses to share their strengths. Today, through the No Kid Hungry campaign, Share Our Strength is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need. No child should go hungry in America – we’re on our way to making that a reality and we want you to join us. We’re bold, creative, always open to new ideas, and 100% dedicated to our mission. If that sounds like you, we’d like you to consider becoming part of our team.

The International Strategy Intern will be responsible for working directly with the Managing Director and the Co-Founder to synthesize and analyze data in support of strategic decision making to expand our organization’s No Kid Hungry related work into India. This position requires prior experience or familiarity in the child hunger and school meals space in India, and will also work directly with multiple areas within the organization to pull out best practices, benchmarks and donor data that will be helpful to further our mission. Additionally, the person in this role will help the Managing Director and team to conduct corporate landscape analysis in India and assist in crafting donor engagement strategies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The International Strategy Intern will concurrently support several different workstreams directly contributing to the early development of our international strategy:

  • Leverage prior experience or familiarity with the India landscape to refine research and analysis specific to federal, state and local frameworks for policies and practices in the child hunger space related to India’s mid-day meal program as well as the potential for breakfast reimbursement status. The work will involve extensive research including conversations with those in India as well as other international nonprofits and institutions doing work in India in the related fields. In the course of producing these deliverables, the Intern will work with various departments as appropriate to pull this all together.
  • Identifying cause marketing and advocacy-related best practices that might be applicable to our international work. This is where the Intern will work with the Center for Best Practices, Resource Development and Communications teams as well as some of our program partners outside of the US.
  • Partnering the Managing Director and the Co-Founder in creating presentation decks, handouts and other supporting materials for our upcoming events and activities.
  • Assist the Managing Director in organizing information for easy access and efficient retrieval.
  • Completing other related tasks assigned from time-to-time during the internship.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • College Senior year and post-grad students are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior internship experience in a corporate or non-profit setting will be a plus.
  • Education, training, or experience in Social Studies and international work is preferred.
  • MS Office proficiency and excellent internet research skills are highly desired.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on multi-step, detail-oriented projects in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting to high-level audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest in anti-hunger/anti-poverty issues, especially in south-Asian countries.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
