Overview

Our team is responsible for the software pipeline, operational tools, and data management that facilitates delivery of our billions of captured images to our customers. As a software engineer on the team, you will have the opportunity to build core web services, apps and tools. You will participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle including scoping, design, coding, testing, implementation, and support. You will help in the innovation and development of scalable microservices and user-facing applications for managing imagery data.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, test, and deliver scalable backend services leveraging cloud technology.
  • Design, implement, test, and deliver modern frontend web components and applications.
  • Solve complex problems to achieve critical organization objectives.
  • Consistently deliver work within stated timelines.
  • Participate organization in code reviews, design, and feature planning.
  • Use software and professional concepts to drive innovation.
  • Proliferate best practices within the team.
  • Create and maintain documentation for systems.
  • Deliver effective presentations on project-level initiatives.
  • Provide guidance in areas of expertise to strengthen individual skills of teammates.
  • Effectively communicate with senior leaders across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of applicable professional experience.
  • Excellent problem solving, debugging, analysis, commStaffunication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strong expertise in full stack application development.
  • Strong programming fundamentals.
  • Ability to write high quality code with a focus on quality, scalability, maintainability, testability, and performance.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages and willingness to learn others as needed.
  • Robust design sense with the ability to extend large code bases cleanly.
  • Experience providing quality-focused code reviews.
  • Ability to work independently with self-motivation to meet customer needs

Preferred

  • Experience with geospatial tools, frameworks and web services such as mapbox-gl, WMTS, Cesium, geojson.
  • Experience building and delivering scalable RESTful/gRPC backend services & capabilities.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment like AWS and services like S3, EC2, SQS, SNS, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudFormation.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Golang, Python, Node.js, C++, and PHP.
  • Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Angular, or Vue).
  • Experience with container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
  • Experience with common CI/CD methods and tools.
  • Experience with concurrency and distributed computing.
  • Experience with building event-driven applications.
  • Solid understanding of the Agile, Scrum, and/or SAFe development process.

This is a full-time, remote role with a salary range of $130,000-$180,000, bonus eligible.
