Position Summary:
The VDC Engineer works directly with project teams in reviewing/developing 3D models from Preconstruction design documentation into the construction process.
VDC Engineers/Coordinators report to the VDC manager and/or project managers, directors as assigned and required.
The VDC Senior Engineer is responsible for the implementation, execution and tactical delivery of McCarthys VDC/BIM Processes, Tools and Best Practices within the Division. The VDC Senior Engineer reports to the Regional VDC Manager.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist project managers, estimators, and leadership with the ability to convert current building specifications into 3D models, including assisting with identifying design change challenges early in the process.
  • Manage and perform clash detection processes with multiple systems in a proactive and collaborative environment to ensure the correct processes are applied and design documentation is coordinated.
  • Convert applicable building design documentation and specifications into 3D models; assist with identifying design/construction challenges early in the preconstruction process.
  • Review architectural plans and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Engineering is required or equivalent years of industry experience.

  • 3+ Years of Experience in preconstruction and/or field operations for VDC Engineer modeling mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
  • 5+ Years of Experience in preconstruction and/or field operations for Senior VDC Engineer modeling mechanical piping and plumbing systems.
  • Demonstrated capabilities and/or applied experience with Autodesk Revit Building software and/or Navisworks.
  • Demonstrated capabilities and/or applied experience with MEP systems and/or Concrete/Rebar design.
  • Demonstrated capabilities and/or applied experience working in the A/E/C industry desired.
  • Demonstrated capabilities with construction concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to plan and accomplish goals relative to design milestones and design deliverable requirements.
  • Possess strong construction technical skills, including experience with inserting, sleeves, and imbed requirements for a variety of project types.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to work in a collaborative environment, strong presentation skills and ability to multitask managing data and information.
