Summary:

This position must support the die cast/trim/machining and other services' efforts to keep a continuous flow of high-quality castings through the plant and to the customer by accurately providing and reporting the significant aspects of the visual, dimensional, and process information available.


This position must promote a predictive, not reactive, maintenance philosophy by taking a proactive approach to preventative maintenance and quality.


This position, as well as others in the facility, must promote plant wide safety and housekeeping, and follow established guidelines for visual management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent the Company as a direct customer liaison for quality issues and continuous improvement activities.
  • Implements containment actions as necessary, leads corrective actions teams to resolve customer complaints and acts as a key member of the APQP team with responsibility for preparation of APQP documentation and PPAP submission to the customer.
  • Assists in data gathering with problem solving teams on continuous improvement items and complaint issues based on the 8D format to assure permanent corrective actions.
  • This position designs, installs, and evaluates QA/QC process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques; designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyzes production and service limitations and standards; recommends revision of specifications when indicated; formulates or helps formulate QA/QC policies and procedures; conducts training on QA/QC concepts and tools; and interfaces with all other engineering components within the company and with customers on quality related issues while meeting production schedules.
  • Additional responsibilities include conducting in-house training in SPC, Quality Assurance and measurement activities as directed by Quality Manager. Assisting the Layout Technician on verification on incoming tooling.
  • Must support Aludyne engineering in the enforcement of our supplier requirements, from supplier selection through program life.
  • Develop and oversee SPC data gathering systems, control charts and limits, including follow-up on our of control responses. Report CPKs and analysis as required, communicating information internally for reaction. Oversee the development and training of automated data collection systems. Identifies areas of incapable processes and products. Conducts process capability studies on new and existing products and processes to determine if customer requirements can be met.
  • Suggests ways to improve processes and products through the elimination of waste. Analyzes statistical data to determine effectiveness of data and its appropriateness.
  • Defines quality discrepancies and assures corrective actions are applied. Prepares documentation of problems, solutions experiments and results. Directs and supplies communication with and between departments concerning quality, overseeing training of inspection and production personnel in quality determination.
  • Administers company personnel policies, enforces health and safety regulations.
  • Determine quality costs for new programs during quoting process.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for directing all of the quality department including quality auditors and lab technicians as needed.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years related experience; or six years' experience. Should be proficient in Metrology, Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing, and Design of Experiments.



Skills and Abilities

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Computer literate to read, write, and reply to e-mail.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; be able to handle and / or feel objects, tools, or controls; and to communicate. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job are the same as required for a driver's license in the state in which the person lives, and will be demonstrated by maintaining that license.



Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
