Position Overview:

Under the general direction of the VP of Finance, the Insurance and Risk Analyst is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Corporate Insurance Program. This comprehensive role includes coverage placement, claims administration, contracting, loss forecasting, and reporting and analysis. The Insurance and Risk Analyst will work cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners to identify and mitigate risks, ensure appropriate insurance coverage, and support the organization’s overall risk management goals. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment, Analysis & Cost Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize risks across the organization.
  • Benchmark insurance costs and coverage; recommend cost-effective improvements.
  • Partner with internal departments to ensure comprehensive risk identification.
  • Assist in preparing loss analyses and budgets.

Insurance Policy & Claims Management

  • Procure and manage a wide range of insurance policies (property, liability, D&O, cyber, etc.).
  • Review, renew, and negotiate insurance policy terms, conditions, and premiums.
  • Maintain documentation for all active policies and issue certificates of insurance.
  • Oversee claims reporting, tracking, and resolution in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Serve as the main liaison between the company and brokers, carriers, and consultants.

Reporting, Documentation & Compliance

  • Prepare and present insurance and risk-related reports to the VP of Finance.
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping of policies, claims, premiums, and compliance requirements.
  • Track and maintain up-to-date certificates of insurance from vendors and third parties.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with Legal to review insurance language in contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) team to support a culture of proactive risk management.
  • Educate internal teams on insurance policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Advise management on coverage options, exclusions, and emerging risk trends.

Expected Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate insurance, risk management, or a related field.

  • Experience with policy placement, renewals, claims administration, and broker/vendor management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to learn ERP (e.g., SAP), EPM (e.g., OneStream), and BI (e.g., Incorta) systems.

  • Familiarity with reviewing insurance language in contracts.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to influence, advise, and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management) or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).

  • Experience with a broad portfolio of insurance products (e.g., property, liability, D&O, E&O, cyber).

  • Working knowledge of vendor compliance and risk-related documentation.

Travel:

  • Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.

The annual salary range for this position in the specified geographic location is $100,000 - $125,000 The actual salary will be based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
