SIUE's Head Start/Early Head Start program at our East St. Louis campus is looking for an Extra Help - Special Services Coordinator (EH25-170) to support our amazing kiddos with developmental needs. In this behind-the-scenes hero role, you'll help coordinate services that support children with developmental delays, speech/language challenges, and mental health monitoring-ensuring they get the early interventions they need to thrive!

What You Will Do:

  • Assist in the delivery and coordination of special services for children identified with developmental or speech/language delays.
  • Work closely with mental health consultants, therapists, and teaching staff to ensure kiddos are getting the support they need.
  • Keep documentation, referrals, and reports organized and up to date-because details matter!
  • Be a friendly, resourceful point of contact for staff and families navigating support services.
  • Help build a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels seen and supported.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a specialized service provision
-Early Childhood/Head Start experience and networking with community agencies
-Experienced with low income and culturally diverse families
-Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
-Master's degree in Special Education
-Five (5) years supervisory experience
-Experienced with low income and culturally diverse families
-Excellent written and verbal communication
