Alternate Perspectives, Inc. (API) is seeking a dedicated Academic Instructor to join our team at one of our Job Corps Centers. In this role, you will provide students with academic instruction that leads to skill development and credential attainment, helping them achieve their career and educational goals.
If you want to be a part of a dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24 years old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation's most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.
What You'll Do:
- Provide engaging instruction to students in designated academic subjects.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that support student learning and career readiness.
- Motivate and mentor students in behavior, education, and study habits.
- Collaborate with other instructors, counselors, and staff to support student success.
- Maintain a safe and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Assist in evaluating and improving academic curricula and instructional methods.
- Utilize available systems to track student progress and ensure program compliance.
- Promote Career Success Standards and serve as a positive role model for students.
What We're Looking For:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and a valid teaching certificate. One year of instructional experience is also preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, classroom management, and mentoring abilities.
- Technical: Basic computer proficiency for student record tracking and reporting.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (unless waived by management). Employment waivers may be accepted with approval from the Department of Labor (DOL).
