Job Title: Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist
Location): Boston, On-site
Position Type: Full-Time OR Part-Time, Temporary (September 2025 – March 2026)
Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist provides individualized treatment, leads classroom-based groups, and conducts pre-vocational Life Skills activities for students with complex learning, social emotional, and behavioral challenges. The Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist delivers trauma informed care through direct interventions in self-regulation, sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, executive functioning, and self-care, to maximize student participation in academic and daily activities.
The Long-Term Substitute Occupational Therapist (OT) provides coverage when the assigned Occupational Therapist is absent for one or more days; including long-term coverage periods.

Essential duties:
  • Provides occupational therapy intervention in 1:1 sessions in the OT gym or within the classroom setting, and lead classroom-based groups.
  • Consults with staff across disciplines on the impact of underlying skills on students' academic, social, and behavioral functioning and on accommodations and modifications to support learning and participation.
  • Provides informal assessment and diagnostic evaluations for 3-year re-evaluations.
  • Writes Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives based on evaluations and treatment data in coordination with teaching teams.
  • Writes quarterly Progress Reports based on observational and treatment data.
  • Consults with parents directly and/or through case managers on students' occupational therapy needs.
  • Supports the school's integrated team model through professional communication and collaboration.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's Degree (MS) or Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy is required.
  • MA Licensure, Board Certified through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) is required.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a school or pediatric setting with a similar student population is required.
  • Experience working with students with social emotional and behavioral challenges preferred.
Training:
  • First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint trainings is required or ability to participate in annual training at beginning of employment and annually or as needed throughout tenure.

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000; salary range pro-rated based on full time equivalent (FTE).
