Position Title: Lead Designer - Electrical CAD
Location: Omaha, NE, United States
Description:
Provide leadership and design support for engineering or operations on projects or problems related pipeline facilities (meter and compressor stations, pipelines, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Utilizes electrical design criteria and code requirements to develop proper physical layout and special installation procedures.
Performs electrical CAD design project planning and scheduling based on priorities and time requirements, e.g., workload estimates, staff assignments, project monitoring and status reports.
Personally, completes assigned projects and provides work direction and schedules assignments as electrical CAD design team leader of assigned unit staff and/or third party personnel for project completion.
Checks all assigned project drawings, design, layouts, fabrications and dimensions to ensure overall accuracy, continuity and integrity of electrical CAD design project designs and assure revision of drawings in accordance with redirected requirements.
Assures the assembly of electrical project completion packages and related documents as assigned and assists field personnel when required.
Assists training new electrical engineers or electrical CAD design staff regarding drafting techniques, design application, procedures, etc.
Participates in multi-discipline design conferences and makes field trips concerning projects.
Assists in meeting the company's business objectives and the various government agency rules and regulations.
Reports status of electrical CAD design projects to manager. Makes recommendations relative to manpower requirements, equipment requirements and personnel selection.
Participates in task forces, conference and training sessions to streamline or re-engineer internal/external processes as required.
Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective completion of a project, including employee safety, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed for the project.
Personally revise electrical CAD design drawings in accordance with directed requirements.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in engineering or a related field, a technical degree, or equivalent work experience. (Typically three years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a degree.)
Eight or more years of progressively responsible drafting/design experience.
Eight years of related experience in gas pipeline engineering, operations or construction.
A strong analytical ability, good interpersonal and human relations skills.
Demonstrated good judgment in problem solving and decision-making, with ability to take action or commit oneself appropriately.
Proven knowledge and ability to perform a variety of highly skilled electrical CAD drafting/design technically related projects.
Ability to provide work direction to assigned personnel.
Extensive working knowledge of AutoCAD and CAD Overlay and discipline related applications.
Extensive experience with and/or knowledge in engineering and operations related, codes, standards and procedures; i.e., DOT, FERC, OSHA, NNG, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent PC skills, including familiarity with Windows environment, must be proficient in Microsoft office applications.
Ability to work with multiple projects, changing priorities and exacting deadlines.
Ability to make periodic field trips to operations technical office facilities or other sites as required.
In-depth working knowledge of gas pipeline industry and NNG systems preferred, but not required.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
