Position Title: Senior Accountant

General Description

Analyze financial data, reports and / or transactions to determine which accounting entries apply. Manages monthly closing processes, reporting, remittance accounting and accruals analysis. Support the operation and business units in the solution of outstanding items in general ledger accounts and consultations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Month end analysis and reporting including preparation of account analysis, variance explanations, journal entries, remittance accounting, among others.
  • Assist in the accounting evaluation of special transactions or consultations referred by the business units or reconciliation team.
  • Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Develop, review, and update internal control matrix and/or accounting processes of the unit to identify efficiencies.
  • Create/develop/prepare and/or review special reports requested by Management, by other business units and/or by Corporate Comptroller
  • Develop strong customer relationships by active participation in meetings with the operations/business/accounting departments.
  • Manages internal and external audits.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting

Experience

At least three years of experience working in accounting.

Other Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills to identify situations as they arise, provide alternatives, and collaborate in the decision-making process.
  • Knowledge in GAAP and FASB regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Timely communication of situations to the supervisor.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Outlook, strong knowledge in Excel and Power Query (preferable).
  • Knowledge in SAP, FIS, (preferable)
  • Availability to work extended hours, holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
