Description:
The Data Systems & Health Informatics Product Development Analyst serves as a cross-functional leader in managing, optimizing, and advancing the use of health information systems within a community mental health setting. This role combines the technical acumen of a data analyst with the systems-thinking of a health informatics specialist. The analyst supports clinical, billing, and administrative teams by improving Electronic Health Record (EHR) functionality and enhancing end-user documentation experience and quality.
This professional plays a pivotal role in aligning data systems with care delivery and revenue cycle processes. Responsibilities include data analysis, state-mandated reporting submissions, and EHR configuration and product enhancement. The ideal candidate brings a proactive mindset, advanced system knowledge, and advanced data analytics acumen.
Key Responsibilities:
- EHR & Systems Management
- Shared responsibility with the Information Technology Department for configuration, updates, and troubleshooting of the agency's EHR.
- Shared responsibility with Quality Improvement and Corporate Compliance Department to build and maintain clinical documentation templates, billing forms, and integrated workflows.
- Collaborate with IT and vendor partners to ensure optimal EHR performance and usability.
2. Data Systems Analysis & Reporting
- Custom reporting for clinical and billing data to identify inefficiencies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop dashboards and reports for executive leadership, quality improvement, and regulatory reporting.
- Use SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools to visualize and interpret health data.
3. Project Management & Leadership
- Lead or participate in projects to implement new EHR features, data initiatives, or compliance changes.
- Support the agency's strategic goals by aligning informatics capabilities with care delivery models.
- Facilitate change management efforts tied to system or workflow transitions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Reduction in documentation errors and billing rejections
- Increased staff satisfaction with EHR usability and training
- Timeliness and accuracy of reporting and compliance documentation
- Efficiency gains in workflow turnaround and data entry
- Completion of system enhancement projects within defined timelines
Core Competencies:
- Technical proficiency with EHR platforms, SQL, Excel, and PowerBI or Tableau
- Analytical Thinking
- Communication, such as translating data and technical terms for a broader audience
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and ability to work with clinical, billing, IT, and Executive or Director-level leadership to align priorities
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Data Science, Public Health, or related field OR 8+ years of data analysis with informatics or product development experience
Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in data analysis and informatics or product development
- Direct experience working in or knowledge of community mental health, FQHC, or behavioral health settings
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA), and/or
- Certified Professional in Health Informatics (CPHI), and/or
- Certified Business Intelligence (CBI)
Work Environment & OSHA Rating:
- Primarily sedentary, office-based or hybrid work with periodic engagement in clinical spaces
- Occasional lifting of light IT or training materials
- OSHA Classification: Non-clinical – Low Risk
HIPAA & Confidentiality Standards:
- Regular access to PHI and confidential clinical records
- Must maintain compliance with all data privacy and security protocols
- Required to complete ongoing HIPAA training and report suspected breaches immediately
