The Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology is seeking an Adjunct to teach?in our Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics program. This role is vital in shaping the knowledge and skills of aspiring prosthetists and orthotists, equipping students with a deep understanding of the human body's structure and movement.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive lectures and laboratory sessions on patient management with a specific focus on applications in prosthetics and orthotics. Course taught or co-taught by this Adjunct include; Patient Management, Pre-Certification Orthotic Fitter, Internship, and support for core classes.
  • Create interactive teaching materials and activities that integrate clinical applications for prosthetic and orthotic treatment.
  • Facilitate hands-on learning experiences in lab sessions and functional assessments relevant to prosthetics and orthotics.
  • Supervise and mentor students in clinical practice and laboratory, ensuring they develop the knowledge and skills necessary for effective patient care.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate patient management across the prosthetics and orthotics curriculum.
  • Provide one-on-one and group tutoring to support students in mastering complex anatomical and biomechanical concepts.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and academic standards, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Educational Background:
  • Master’s or higher degree in prosthetics or orthotics.
  • Specialized knowledge in prosthetic orthotic practice is essential.
  • Teaching Experience:
  • Proven experience teaching at the graduate or professional level.
  • Familiarity with teaching methodologies specific to healthcare and rehabilitation education, particularly in prosthetics and orthotics.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Proficiency in clinical practice.
  • Experience integrating anatomical and biomechanical principles into practical applications for prosthetics and orthotics.
  • Experience using instructional technology, such as virtual anatomy software and learning management systems.
  • Professional Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse groups of students, faculty, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to balance teaching, mentoring, and administrative duties.
  • A demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
