Med-OB-Gyn & Reproductive Science - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25002637)

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences is seeking a postdoctoral associate to work at the Magee-Womens Research Institute. The postdoctoral associate will work on defining the mechanical and immune response to mesh in a longitudinal study in a large animal model (rabbit) of pelvic organ prolapse repair surgery. Also, they will work on the development of a biomimetic organ-specific ECM-based hydrogel as a regenerative strategy for genitourinary syndrome of menopause and biofabrication. Other responsibilities include animal surgeries, outcome measurements by predefined assays and output strategies, as well as attending and participating in the iCORE program offered by the University of Pittsburgh and associated commercialization projects. The postdoctoral associate will be expected to be a leader in the lab, in charge of mentoring graduate students and day-to-day activities.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Relevant Field (Engineering, Bioengineering)
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
