Overview

  • Protein isolation and characterization with emphasis on determining metal concentrations and electronic structural properties.
  • Measurements using rapid kinetic methods including stopped-flow and rapid freeze quench techniques.
  • Analysis of rapid kinetic data.
  • Spectroscopic measurements on metalloprotein structure/function, with an emphasis on fluorescence and X-ray spectroscopic techniques
  • Developing protocols for isolation of intermediates.
  • Computer modeling with an emphasis on spectral simulation.
  • General biochemical laboratory techniques As needed.


Responsibilities

  • PhD in a relevant science discipline.

  • General biochemical technique

  • Specific techniques relevant to metalloproteins 

  • Rapid Kinetics

  • Spectroscopic techniques relevant to metalloproteins

  • Computer modeling

  • Some experience with membrane proteins

  • Strong scientific curiosity and proven initiative to pursue solutions

  • Strong writing skills

  • Demonstrated success in prioritizing, organizing and handling multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Demonstrated success working independently and as a member of a collaborative team

  • Demonstrated skills in communicating complex scientific concepts to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing
