Tactical Trainer II – Trackless Mobile Infantry Target (TMIT)

The Tactical Trainer II assists the Site lead with all operational, quality, environmental and security aspects of site and training Operations. The Tactical Trainer II assists the Site lead with support teams. The Tactical Trainer II performs equipment troubleshooting and resupply throughout an exercise. They ensure the equipment quality control standard and is ready for the training unit at locations or were required per the training event.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Site lead at their designated location ensure compliance, technical and management support for the respective TMIT Site.
  • Reports to the Site Lead in all matters concerning operational support to TMIT at the fielded location and assigned Deploy for Training activities.
  • Prepares and executes planning, preparation, and execution of support to all TMIT training at the fielded location and assigned Deploy for Training activities per the Site Leads direction.
  • Provides Humanoid, Engageable, Kinetic, Training Robot (HEKTR) data from the training event to the Site lead for usage to populate the After-Action Review (AAR) for the training event. Provide data management for all AAR activities.
  • Responsible for pre-ops checks of vehicles/trailers and pre-ops checks and first echelon maintenance of HEKTRs, and set-up of equipment on training ranges.
  • Responsible for breakdown, storage, and accountability of all equipment, charging of all batteries, survey of equipment for damage or expendable parts wear, and ordering of parts for routine maintenance.
  • Provides exercise expertise on how to get the best from the system, is proactive in supporting all elements of training.
  • Provides expertise in all TMIT exercise support activity.
  • Provides data for a Post Exercise Reports for each training exercise and provides input to the mandated TMIT reports for the assigned training capability.
  • Reports operational status to the Site Lead in accordance with the TMIT quality procedures.
  • Ensures that the TMIT training systems are maintained, and that the configuration is kept as specified.
  • Support the preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Assists with the troubleshooting activity.
  • Reports effectiveness, efficiency and need for improvement of the system to the Site Lead
  • Assists with the maintenance of the TMIT systems as required per SOP.
  • Shares best practice and ensures continuous improvement within the team.
  • Responsible for all security aspects at Site and Deploy for Training activities.
  • Responsible for daily management of Health & Safety at site in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Provides data to the Site lead for the Site Work Instructions (WIs) are up to date.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma.
  • Attended Professional Military Education appropriate to rank at time of separation or retirement from the uniformed service.
EXPERIENCE
  • Former 03XX E-6 or above
  • 8+ years of Fleet Marine Force operational experience preferred.
  • Understanding of USMC combined arms tactics; tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Simulator / tracked / wheeled robot experience preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with Marine Corps Instructional Systems Design / Systems Approach to Training and Education.
  • Understanding of range / exercise design and development.
  • Understanding of training development and training scenarios.
CORE SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of military doctrine, tactics, and command relationships at the Joint operational command level.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and / or SharePoint.
  • Experience in Instructor Development, Curriculum development, and exercise design to all areas of the TMIT program.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Field and overnight training required.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time and maintain focus.
  • Prolonged outdoor exposure to the elements. Work in inclement temperatures from 100+ degrees in a low elevation desert climate to negative 25 degrees in a high elevation (6,500 – 10,000 feet) mountainous environment.
  • Routine heavy lifting (50 lbs. maximum).
  • Daily driving in the training areas with poor driving conditions due to rugged terrain, weather, and range debris.
  • Must be able to drive a ¾ ton truck with 25 ft trailer.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
  • Occasional travel CONUS and OCONUS may be required.
  • Passport required.
  • Able to obtain a CAC Card.
  • Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.
