ResponsibilitiesUtility Worker
1st Shift
Pay Rate: $18.60/hr
Pay Grade: HRB002

Now hiring at our MSA Safety New Kensington manufacturing plant for a Utility Worker. This role will perform any Labor Grade 2 or Labor Grade 3 job as needed within the areas of responsibility. These include but are not limited to:
- Assembler
- Sensor Assembler
- Maintenance Helper
- Test Production Assemblies
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work standards of the positions listed in the Position Summary apply.
- Performs all tasks related to production, inspection, testing, and general plant activities.
- Performs miscellaneous tasks such as cutting, filling, gluing, packing, etc.
- Works from both verbal and written instructions, samples, drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.
- Operates a variety of hand tools and miscellaneous bench machines and assembly equipment such as cut-off press, terminal crimping machines, soldering irons, and spot welders, etc.
- Performs necessary setups on equipment to be used.
- Detects faulty material, records information and reports unusual conditions to supervisor.
- May install components on customer repair units.
- Performs certain janitorial duties.
- Actively participates in Continuous Improvement activities.
- Actively works within a team to achieve daily goals.
- Maintains safety and housekeeping standards.
- Will rotate between work cells regularly to maintain knowledge and skills.
- Ability to move, handle, install gas cylinders with appropriate equipment and PPE (can weigh up to 100lbs.).
The above description covers the most significant duties performed but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned.

QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:
- Must be able to meet requirements of all physical aspects of the job.
- Demonstrates basic computer skills.
- Demonstrates customer focus.
- Demonstrate good communication skills.
- Ability to understand and follow work instructions.
- Ability to operate tools, fixtures, and test equipment independently.
- Understand and adhere to quality standards.
- Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
The following can be obtained through on the job training:

Ability to:
- solder
- setup process from beginning to end
- successfully complete fixture changes
- troubleshoot print problems with effective resolution
- identify defects
- perform testing on sampling and combustible products i.e. Multi-Zone and PCA 400
Failure to meet any of the above qualifications will result in removal from the position.
