Shift
Monday – Friday, flexible hours between 8am-5pm. Some hours may be incurred on weekends or evenings for sample handling. 37.5 hours per week.


Job Summary
The Division of Pediatric Research at the Kentucky Children’s Hospital advocates for the growth of innovative research to improve pediatric health outcomes. The Pediatric Clinical Research Unit within the division provides support for clinical research studies and fosters relationships with those involved in research – within UK and beyond.

This position will assist with laboratory assays, management and analysis of data, processing of samples and other resources, and other research-related tasks to help catalyze research productivity within the Department of Pediatric Research.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
General expectations:

– Attention to details and ability to follow protocols
– Trained in HSP, biosafety, CITI, RCR, GLP, and any other requirements for specific protocols
– Willing to travel (within driving distance)
– Good with Zoom and Teams
Computer skills
– MS office, especially Excel and Word
– GraphPad Prism
– REDCap
– FileMaker
– Smartsheet
– Qualtrics
– Coding and programming (Python, R, JavaScript, etc)

Wetlab skills
– Collection of biological specimens from UK hospitals and clinics (sometimes patient houses)
– Basic sample handling (pipet, centrifuge, aliquot, biobanking)
– Bioassays (ELISAs, western blots, omics)
– IHC and microscopy
– Molecular techniques (DNA/RNA isolation, qPCR)
– Cell culture
– Animal handling
– Basic equipment maintenance
Human Clinical Study skills
– EPIC, SCM, AEHR chart review
– Basic IRB concepts
– Organize regulatory documents
– CRO data systems (iMetadata; Preclarus; etc)
– VOP, BIA, etc.

Data Collection and Analytical skills
– Slicer Dicer
– SPSS or SAS
– Tableau
