Description

1. Manages international admissions, acceptance and denial for the following student types: all international student types (UG, GR, Transfer) degree seeking students, Intensive English Program, and International Exchange Student Programs. Includes managing student records in the following systems: Slate CRM, Banner, and Workflow; Responsible for reviewing and authenticating the following: Transcript, international transcript evaluations, financial documents, English proficiency exams, creating initial I-20s and admissions packets. Coordinates the admissions process with academic departments and student financial services.

2. Counsels and educates students about the University, academic programs, enrollment, change of major requests, program cost and university expenses, scholarships, and departmental admissions standards.

3. Recruits international students for the following student types: all international student types (UG, GR, Transfer) and programs.

Includes managing student records in the following systems: Slate CRM, Banner, and Workflow; Responsible for reviewing and authenticating the following: Transcripts, international credential evaluations, financial documents, English proficiency exams, initial I-20's and admissions packets. Coordinates the admissions process with academic departments, and student financial services. - 60%

• Makes final decision regarding student applications and may deviate from typical admissions standards with discretion when he/she determines it is appropriate to do so.

• Involved with devising long-term and short-term objectives for admissions processes.

• Investigates and resolves admissions matters of significance on behalf of ISS.

• Approves or denies student applications, including transcripts, international credential evaluations, financial documents, English proficiency exams and then renders a university admission decision.

• Notifies students of application status, detailing missing documents, deadlines, and other requirements.

• Establishes and documents communication with all prospective students, applicants, and general inquiries.

• Creates initial I-20s and admissions packets for international students.

• Evaluates and validates all international transcripts for accuracy and authenticity.

• Preserves the integrity of and updates student records (e.g. CRM, Banner, and Webxtender)

• Resolves student duplication of admissions records.

• Communicates with academic departments and other offices in regard to student application status.

• Independently determines when it is necessary to waive an application fee.

• Processes payments of application fees and provides refunds when necessary.

• Provides expert advice and refers completed applications to program coordinators.

• Self-sufficiently determines when it is necessary to withdraw students for non-attendance.

• Independently evaluates and processes re-admit student applications.

• Updates IEP student status and informs the IIEP director, graduate coordinator, and student of the update.

• Updates student holds based on receipt of official transcripts.

• Maintains Argos report to process applications, updates admissions and enrollment records, and communicate to students.

• Executes other duties as appointed to include training/supervising student workers.

Counsels and educates students about the University, academic programs, enrollment, change of major requests, program cost and university expenses, scholarships, and departmental admissions standards. - 20%

• Establishes and disseminates information pertaining to academic programs, university cost, academic departments, scholarships, and admissions standards to students.

• Represents the admissions team in handling complaints and resolving student issues.

• Corresponds with prospective students by phone and e-mail concerning the benefits of attending UCM (approximately 5,000 contacts with students per semester).

• Builds relationships with prospective students utilizing a 1 to 1 marketing approach.

• Counsels current students about changing major requirements and processes.

• Posts undergraduate and graduate transfer credit from international institutions.

• Assist with student enrollments and withdrawals.

• Assists students with questions about the self-enrollment system and other UCM student programs.

• Informs students about other University support units.

• Establishes and maintains systematic communications with students, advisers, and graduate coordinators.

• Provides continual communication with students about upcoming student information, e.g., enrollment and hold dates.

Recruitment and Other duties - 20%

Assists with recruiting international students for the following student types: UG, GR, and Transfer.

• Individually determines recruitment activities and schedules, fully organizing fall and spring recruitment cycles.

• Represents UCM at various career and education fairs on and off campus to recruit graduate students.

• Executes other duties as appointed.

Typical Qualifications

Education :

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, International Studies, Business, Humanities, or any related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience :
  • Experience providing administrative or student support in areas such as developing procedures, program planning, and implementation, and/or coordination of efforts between various entities preferred.
  • Experience providing services for people of diverse cultural backgrounds preferred.
  • Preferred experience in international affairs.
  • Knowledge of immigration regulations is preferred.
  • Current or prior DSO status preferred.
