Position Summary 

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Technology Officer to lead our Satellite & Space Segment engineering teams in designing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge satellite telecommunications solutions, as well as partnering with customers to align product roadmaps and directions to fit into their architectures. This role requires a visionary leader with deep technical expertise in satellite communications, RF systems, network infrastructure, and software-defined networking. Reporting directly to the President of Satellite and Space segment, they will drive innovation, optimize performance, and ensure the successful execution of mission-critical projects aligned to customer requirements. This role has responsibility for overseeing engineering and business development across all reporting units within the S&S segment. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Define and execute the engineering & business development strategy aligned with business goals across the Satellite and Space Segment 
  • Provide leadership and guidance to engineering, product development, sales, and marketing teams 
  • Oversee large multi-disciplinary projects, including software, hardware, FPGA, and RF 
  • Collaborate with senior engineering management to define processes and group goals 
  • Drive the design, development, and release of digital, RF, and software engineering projects 
  • Ensure efficient product development processes and adherence to quality standards 
  • Manage resources effectively to meet project timelines and budgetary constraints 
  • Ensure operational effectiveness, review results, and allocate resources effectively 
  • Foster organizational communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams 
  • Manage team performance and development, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations 
  • Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and cost-saving initiatives 
  • Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and customer relations 
  • Support capture efforts with proposals, white papers and review cost estimates with leadership team of S&S segment 
  • Outline the roadmap of technology and products/solutions for Research & Development 
  • Sets, monitors and aligns budgets for research development to ensure proper staffing of technological development in the long-term and short-term needs of the organization. 
  • Travel as required for business needs and represent the company in external engagements (some international travel) 
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Skills: 

  • Experience in SATCOM communication system design, hardware and/or software engineering, or RF engineering 
  • Experience in product engineering, design for manufacturing, and embedded systems 
  • Intimate knowledge of the culture of the US Department of Defense, particularly the US Army, US Navy, and US Special Operations Command, is preferred. 
  • Understanding of tactical communications and the DoD requirements process 
  • Experience in Satellite Communications or Telecommunications industries 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create processes in a dynamic environment 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including customer interactions and technical & management sections in Government RFPs. 
  • Knowledge of technological trends to build strategy 
  • Understanding of budgets and business-planning 
  • Possess natural leadership skills including the ability delegate tasks and inspire staff in their work Financial acumen to drive justification for technical investment to provide connection with strategic business goals 
  • Strong desire to collaborate with other business leaders to be able to align organizational goals, identify challenges, and to provide recommendations on how to meet goals 
  • Lead technical independent reviews of key programs 

Requirements: 

  • Fifteen or more years of professional work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Five or more years of experiences leading an Engineering team 
  • Five or more years in a senior business development role, including experience addressing large capture programs 
  • Active Top Secret clearance or held within the last 2 years 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related disciplines
