Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Engineer to lead and support sustainability initiatives across our construction projects. This role plays a critical part in developing and implementing environmentally responsible practices, ensuring compliance with sustainability standards, and helping the company meet its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project teams during design, planning, and construction phases to integrate sustainable building practices.
- Conduct sustainability assessments, including life-cycle analysis, energy modeling, and carbon footprint calculations.
- Identify and recommend innovative materials, systems, and technologies that improve environmental performance.
- Lead efforts to obtain green building certifications (e.g., LEED, WELL, Green Globes, or Envision) for applicable projects.
- Develop and implement strategies for reducing construction waste, energy consumption, and water use on job sites.
- Monitor and report sustainability performance metrics to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date on local, state, and federal sustainability regulations and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and training to construction teams and subcontractors on sustainable construction techniques.
Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in sustainable construction or environmental engineering.
- Familiarity with green building standards and associated credentials (LEED AP BD+C preferred).
- Proficiency in tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, energy modeling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- This role could operate successfully in our Corporate office in Jacksonville, FL or our regional offices in Boulder, CO or Steven's Point, WI.
Preferred Skills and Experience:- Experience on large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects, involving significant water usage (potable, chilled, hot water, boiler water, etc.), Freon and/or Ammonia refrigeration, natural gas, and other miscellaneous minor gases.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks.
- Passion for sustainability and innovation in the built environment.
