Shipping & Receiving Associate
The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for the efficient handling of incoming and outgoing shipments within Group O. They receive, inspect, and process incoming goods, ensuring accuracy and quality control. Additionally, they prepare outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and coordinating with carriers for timely delivery. The role requires diligence, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment.
Overall, the ideal candidate combines technical skills, interpersonal qualities, and a strong work ethic to contribute to the smooth and efficient flow of goods within Group O.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and unload incoming shipments, verify, and inspect contents against purchase orders, and inspect for damages or discrepancies.
- Pick and process outgoing shipments, including packaging, labeling, and scheduling pickups with carriers which include creating and submitting advanced shipping notices (ASNs), and posting outbound shipping transactions in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments, including tracking information and inventory levels.
- Coordinate with other departments to fulfill orders and resolve any shipping-related issues.
- Ensure compliance with shipping and receiving policies and procedures, as well as health and safety regulations.
- Keep work area clean and organized, including storage areas and shipping/receiving docks.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently, following all manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counts and stock replenishment.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance job skills and knowledge.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Six + months in a receiving, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with shipping software and systems
- Ability to work extended and varying schedules as needed, including overtime.
- Strong diligence and ability to accurately record and track inventory.
- Ability to lift items up to fifty pounds including standing, stooping, and bending for extended periods.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Basic math skills and ability to perform calculations related to inventory and shipping metrics and a basic user ability with Microsoft Excel.
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification.
