Data Scientist I - Wagner Lab
The Data Scientist’s primary responsibilities will include curating data, assessing data integrity, facilitating the use of effective data management tools, and analyzing clinical research data following traumatic brain injury and other acquired neurological injuries. The incumbent should have proficient knowledge in at least one statistical software package (e.g. SAS) and some working knowledge of other packages (e.g. SPSS, R). The incumbent should have some working knowledge of SQL database structure and strong working knowledge of versatile programming tools such as Python. Experience with electronic data capture program, REDCap, is preferred. Advanced knowledge of clinical research methods and quantitative statistical skills. The incumbent will interface with relevant stakeholders, providing input and directly supporting database upgrades, modifications, and expansions. Will be involved in preparing results for presentation in the form of scientific posters, oral presentation, written manuscripts, and/or grant preparation. The incumbent will also have opportunities to take a lead role with some projects in their portfolio with regard to lead authorship on projects that require participation and write up of data synthesis, interpretation, and discussion elements of specific manuscripts. Other responsibilities include training and supervising staff/students with respect to data visualization, data entry and reconciliation, maintaining clinical research databases, as well as support database, infrastructure, and other project management needs.
Candidates with a relevant Master’s degree and a minimum of three years of professional experience beyond academic training are preferred.
Assists in the execution of research objectives, data collection, and data management. Performs routine procedures, statistical analysis, scientific analysis, and reporting. Integrates data and data sets, performs descriptive and exploratory analysis, and creates routine reports and analysis reporting tools. Utilizes statistical software and adheres to all protocols.
The essential functions include data preparation, manipulation, and analysis.
