Medical Plans and Policy Advisor

The Medical Policy and Planning Advisor supports the MARCENT Force Surgeon in implementing operational health service support, medical planning, and force health protection across the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility. This role provides subject matter expertise in health surveillance, bio-surveillance, preventive medicine, and policy development, and directly supports operational readiness for combatant command servicing personnel. The role requires expert-level knowledge, leadership in planning and coordination, and frequent interaction with senior military and interagency personnel. The Medical Plans and Policy Advisor will perform the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and interpret CENTCOM, BUMED, and DHA medical policy guidance; advise Force Surgeon on policy application and impact.
Provide coordination and integration of bio-surveillance, preventive medicine, and force health protection activities across MARCENT.
Participate in planning meetings and exercises, including Annex Q development, and act as liaison between MARCENT and adjacent commands and higher headquarters.
Monitor and assess medical intelligence and health threat information across the theater; provide recommendations for mitigating operational health risks.
Assist in developing and refining guidance related to MOD, pharmaceuticals, therapeutics, and blood program logistics.
Review and support Purple Heart boards, readiness events, and administrative coordination with local military treatment facilities.
Prepare and deliver briefings, written reports, and recommendations on medical planning and health surveillance activities.
Produce coordinated communication materials with G-4 and Plans, Operations, and Medical Intelligence (POMI) planners concerning Global Health Engagement policies and activities.
EDUCATION
Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Nursing, or a related medical field is required.
Bachelor's degree with at least six years of direct operational experience in a Force level Medical Staff may be substituted for a Master's Degree.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in military medical planning, operational health support, or force health protection.
Knowledge of CENTCOM policies, Department of Defense health operations, and global medical intelligence sources.
Experience working with joint military planning groups, including CCSG and Defense Health Agency (DHA) stakeholders.
Experience and knowledge of Annex Q development and combatant command-level medical policy implementation.
Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. Armed Forces blood programs, medical logistics, and multinational coordination.
Demonstrated knowledge of disease surveillance systems, MEDEVAC procedures, and deployment health readiness.
CORE SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Certification in one or more of the following: Certified in Public Health (CPH), Certified Medical Planner (if applicable), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Deployment Health Assessment Program (DHAP) awareness.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite; familiarity with medical readiness tracking systems.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
Desired:
Prior military service in a medical or planning billet at the Force level, or equivalent experience obtained by holding and performing in roles such as Military Health Planner, Preventive Medicine Officer, or Joint Medical Operations Officer.
Advanced proficiency with medical logistics systems and DoD planning tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Required to travel, sometimes on very short notice, within and outside the continental U.S. to support exercises, planning meetings, and site surveys.
SPECIAL POSITION NOTATIONS
Travel is required.
Qualification as an authorized company driver is required. All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company's auto insurance provider.

A Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required for this position.
