Overview

Radiographic Procedures: Performs bone mineral radiography measurements in a clinical environment. These procedures include routine and special bone density radiographs. Bone Density Technologists work with adult and geriatric patients with varying degrees of mobility. Optimizes technique for each image during the examination to obtain the highest quality study with the most comfort to the patient. Provides optimal quality to acquire images, using technical skills and knowledge of equipment. Recognizes and reports significant situations relating to patient care. Orients and trains and new employees as required and follows safe practices in the
principle of Radiation Safety.

 

General Clinic Assisting: May be required to schedules patient appointments; answers telephones; weighs and measures patient, transports patient, assists patient in undressing, stocks rooms with supplies, other duties as licensing and orientation permits

 

Miscellaneous: Demonstrates excellent techniques and principles in performing exams; performs routine cleaning and reports any mechanical failures; performs quality control to ensure proper operation of equipment. Continues to stay current to new technology hardware and software upgrades. Acts as liaison with medical staff and referring clinic physicians
and their medical staff. 



Responsibilities

  • Must be a graduate of an OBMI Board Approved Bone Densitometry Program with an Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) limited permit for Bone Density (LXMO) permanent license OR must have a
    Radiology license from OBMI.

  • Ability to effectively utilize oral and

    Skills and Abilities (Competencies): written communication skills with patients, families, caregivers, colleagues, and the public/community.

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of PCs, including MS Office Suite.

  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
    Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses:

  • Valid OHSU approved Basic Life Support CPR card



Qualifications



  • Associates degree

  • Experience working one- on-one with patients in a medical setting to perform radiography scans.

  • 3-5 years of more in bone density or radiology
    imaging.

  • Bone Density Technologist Training Certification Course in bone densitometry.
