Assistant Women's Gymnastics Coach



The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Gymnastics Coach. The Assistant Gymnastics Coach will be responsible for carrying out coaching assignments during daily workouts, practices, and scheduled events; enforcing team rules; maintaining statistics; monitoring each assigned athletes’ performance; employing specific coaching modalities to meet needs. Other responsibilities include recruiting student-athletes, assisting with departmental recruiting activities, and carrying out scouting assignments. Other duties are as assigned. Bachelor’s degree and one year of coaching experience is required.


Job Summary

Assists the Head Coach with all aspects of a sports program. Recruits athletes, mentors athletes, fosters athletic, emotional, and academic group of student athletes. Oversees sports equipment, practice plans and schedules, skill development, designs coaching strategies. Oversees public and media relations. Coordinates team travel and schedule. Adheres to all rules and regulations.


Essential Functions

Coaching – Carries out coaching assignments during daily work-outs, practices and scheduled events. Enforces team rules. Maintains statistics. Monitors each assigned athletes performance and employs specific coaching modalities to meet needs. Recruiting – recruits student athletes; assists with departmental recruiting activities and carries out scouting assignments. Financial and general administration – assist in budget planning. Assists with the coordination of team travel plans. Works with the facilities coordinator to adhere to practice and competition schedules. Physical conditioning – consults with the trainers and team physicians in monitoring the well-being of student athletes. Other duties as assigned by the head coach. Includes adhering to policies established by the NCCA, ACC, and the University.


Physical Effort

Instructing and demonstrating physical skills while coaching; extensive travel via car, air and bus. Must stand for long periods of time at games and at practice. May participate in drills or practices. May have to lift or transport equipment.
