Job Summary
The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to oversee and manage all HR and payroll functions within the college. In this key role, you will lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the HR and Payroll unit of the Arts and Sciences Business Center. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining human resource integrity and is responsible for leading initiatives that support staff recruitment, retention, performance management, employee relations, and compliance with university policies and employment law. The HR Manager will work closely with the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration on HR and Payroll matters and serve as a trusted advisor to college leadership and a liaison to the university’s central Human Resources office.

This position requires a comprehensive understanding of University, federal and state HR policies and procedures as they relate to faculty and staff.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; at least 5 years of HR experience, preferable in higher education; strong knowledge of HR best practices; and excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. A Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and/or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) is preferred.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated leadership experience as well as possess exceptional customer service, organizational and planning, attention to detail, and communication (both written and verbal) skills. We are seeking a collaborative individual with management, initiative, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. In addition, experience with Microsoft Office, SAP, knowledge of business regulations, human resources policies, and University policies.
