Job Summary
The Director of Communications – Community leads strategic internal and external communications for UK HealthCare’s community hospitals and clinics, with a focus on rural Eastern Kentucky. This role is responsible for media relations, crisis communication, and digital engagement, in collaboration with UKHC’s Brand Strategy, Communications, and Public Relations teams. The director enhances brand visibility, fosters community partnerships, and promotes employee and service recognition. The position ensures aligned messaging across platforms and supports enterprise-wide communication goals through service excellence, strategic planning, and relationship building.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Experience developing strategic communication plans, as well as using web-based communication platforms preferred, excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience with content development, intranet development and workforce communication tools • Able to speak and present to a large audience. • Comfortable interacting with executive leadership and across multiple functions/stakeholders. • Demonstrated experience managing relationships between internal and external clients. • Experience with EHR system implementation, strategic planning, or communication measurement preferred.
