Description

Job Summary:

The Manager, Emerging Technologies, is responsible for the investigation, assessment and integration of breakthrough capabilities for next-generation ground combat vehicle systems and technologies. The Manger, Emerging Technologies works tightly with business development and subject matter experts to position American Rheinmetall at the forefront of innovation in support of evolving battlefield requirements. The Manager, Emerging Technologies utilizes their domain knowledge, experience, expertise, and passion to drive innovation from concept to capability within the American Rheinmetall New Product Development portfolio of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist business development to identify emerging technologies within Army ground combat vehicles and formations, to evaluate and qualify new opportunities that align with Army modernization needs.
  • Stay current on Army modernization priorities, emerging technology trends (i.e. AI, autonomy, sensors, robotics, C4ISR, survivability systems, etc.), and the competitive landscape. To support technology roadmap development and Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) opportunities.
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) for combat vehicle capabilities, Army force structure, as well as current and future operational requirements, provide technical guidance to internal teams and external partners.
  • Act as companywide Armored Combat Vehicle/Operations (i.e. Master Gunner, Commander, Driver) Subject Matter Expert for special projects and user engagements.
  • In conjunction with BD Develop and execute go-to-market strategies, new pursuits, and defense technology solutions, to include existing combat & robotic system platform improvements and new combat & robotic system platform developments.
  • Develop, Build and maintain relationships with Army stakeholders, Program Executive Offices (PEOs), and acquisition officials to shape requirements and influence requirements and procurement decisions.
  • Contribute to and significantly assist with the capture process, proposal development, white paper development, and contract negotiations for existing and new Army Programs.
  • Represent and promote company interests at industry events, Army exercises, and technology demonstrations by gathering and assimilating user feedback along with industry solutions to develop new product development strategies and options to inform Business Development and Leadership decisions.
  • Provide input on Future Products and Programs in conjunction with Business Development to align the New Product Development capabilities and organizational growth goals within the ground combat vehicle space.
  • Undertake other duties as determined by the Vice President of Engineering – New Product Development.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

  • Proven experience in business development, technical proposal development or program management for DoD/US Army programs, especially in ground combat vehicles or related systems.
  • Deep understanding of Army combat formations, procurement processes, and operational requirements.
  • Ability to comprehend and understand emerging technologies relevant to Army modernization (i.e. AI, autonomy, sensors, robotics, C4ISR, survivability systems, etc.) in relation to New Product Development pursuits.
  • Have or be able to develop a strong network within Army acquisition, requirements, and user communities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and proposal development skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical requirements into business strategies, value propositions, and action plans.
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Army SBIR/STTR processes and technology transition.
  • Working knowledge of defense procurement practices and the DoD acquisition cycle
  • Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently
  • Currently holds or can obtain SECRET US Defense clearance.
  • Detailed knowledge of Military Standards and regulations
  • Ability to assimilate complex instructions easily while communicating effectively at all levels in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff to establish productive relationships through diplomacy, influence, trust and superior negotiating skills.
  • Promote collaboration and facilitate teamwork across the organization and its external service providers. Ability to be tactful, diplomatic, and work with integrity, honesty, and respect for others.
  • Exhibit exceptional listening and analytical skills in order to understand customer concerns and needs with the ability to respond promptly and effectively to those needs.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and 10+ years relevant experience or,
  • 15-20 years military experience with U.S. Army Bardley/Abrams Master Gunner graduate preferred

Background Prerequisites:

  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
  • All employment at ARV is contingent upon the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if the position requires it.

Location:

  • Flexible/Remote with travel as required to Army sites and industry events. This requisition combines business development leadership with technical and operational expertise in Army combat vehicles, ensuring alignment with Army modernization and acquisition priorities.
