The Department of Geology and Environmental Science (https://geology.pitt.edu/) at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure-stream Assistant Professor applying geochemical tools to questions at the interface of climate change and Earth surface processes, pending budgetary approval. The Department seeks to hire a candidate with expertise in the application of geochemical techniques such as U-series and U-Pb geochronology, stable isotopes, elemental analyses, and spectroscopy to the study of the evolution of the Earth’s surface environments. Integration of geochemical datasets with process-based models is also desired.
The successful candidate will complement existing research clusters and establish an externally funded, internationally recognized research program that complements existing strengths in the Department. Strong collaborative opportunities exist across the University, including the nationally awarded Pittsburgh Water Collaboratory, the Climate and Global Change Center, the Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation, and the emerging Pitt Space Initiative. Teaching duties include undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of expertise.
