Position Description: 

To safely and accurately store, move and control finished product, B0 parts and other material as directed., Provide the department with parts for packaging orders and/or as needed for preparing for shipment to outside vendors in a timely and efficient manner. 

Knowledge/Skill and Experience 

  • Able to read, write, communicate and comprehend in English. 
  • Able to perform basic math functions to maintain records for inventory purposes and to know if the order is complete or incomplete.
  • Able to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Commands the ability to learn and remember a variety of incoming and outgoing materials, material locations, and department locations.
  • Possess basic computer skills and be familiar with packaging software. 
  • Must have forklift experience and be able to become a certified forklift operator.
  • Experience with the use of handheld radio frequency scanners

Essential Duties:

  • Use the correct material handling equipment and following safety regulations, efficiently moves product within the Packaging area to/from other departments.
  • Accurately pick and transact F-level and H-level hooks and/or packaging parts using scanners or computer systems.
  • Use digital scales to weigh and count the correct quantity of hooks and issue within WIP jobs, both Outside Packaging jobs and vendor hooks for vendors. 
  • Put away F and H Level hooks into designated locations. Transact with Radio Frequency scanner as needed.
  • Perform cycle counts by accurately counting designated items.
  • Replenish Packaging department with packaging components as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining perpetual inventories by understanding and following warehouse procedures involving stock transfers and stock locator systems.
  • Prep hook shipments by running hook boxes through shrink tunnel.
  • Drive and operate order picker and forklift trucks safely.
  • Assists in maintaining perpetual inventories by understanding and following warehouse procedures involving stock transfers and stock locator systems.
  • Drives and maneuvers order picker and other forklift trucks safely.
  • Working with Supervision, decides the most efficient method of handling material using the appropriate equipment available to move stock.
  • Prints schedule groups, WIP job sheets, and pick lists as needed
  • Performs training on various Material Handling functions.
  • Work with Production Planning on WIP job component shortages.
  • Performs packaging duties or rework product as needed. 
  • Follows a recommended schedule, performs preventative maintenance on equipment such as adding water to batteries, checking oil levels, adding oil as needed, and recharging batteries.
  • Prep hook shipments by running hook boxes through shrink tunnel.
  • Maintain a clean work area; keep floors clear of hooks, banding, and trash.
  • Perform other tasks in outside packaging to support co-workers as needed.  
  • Perform work in other departments when needed, such as Shipping.  

Physical Environment and Working Conditions 

  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Function in outdoor temperatures, which may be extremely hot or cold depending on the weather. 
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 12 feet. Must be able to work 20 feet in the air from a lift truck platform to stock shelves or retrieve product for movement to designated areas.
  • Able to reach upward and outward over head and shoulders, and able to push, pull and lift product and materials.
  • Able to bend, stoop and twist to remove and/or place boxes of hooks on skids
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for the duration of the 8 or 10-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work in factory environment where they may come in contact with dust, grease and some chemicals.
  • Must be mentally alert to the constant use of heavy equipment traffic.
  • Wear safety equipment required for the position such as shoes, glasses, gloves, safety harness and hearing protection.
