Pacific Coast Producers, growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking Seasonal General Labor Workers to join our team at our production facility in Salem, OR. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees.

Pay Rate: $16.85 per hour. This is a seasonal, on-site role and runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Weekend work and occasional overtime may be required during the season. 

 As a General Laborer, you perform a variety of production labor tasks in multiple areas or departments, under the direct supervision of production supervisors and management. 

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pre-brine fruit and fill containers.
  • Make and palletize boxes, cases, drums, and/or finished products.
  • Pack and/or unpack materials and finished product.
  • Dump, sample, and wash totes, drums, barrels, and/or boxes.
  • Scale and fill.
  • Inspect and receive shipping materials and packages.
  • Perform heading function; sanitize drum tops, and secure onto drums.
  • Sort fruit according to specifications.
  • Create and apply hand labels.
  • Clean production areas; put materials away, sweep, clean-up syrup spills, etc.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard free work area.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to become respirator certified to work with or near brine, and/or other fumes.
  • Lift truck operator experience preferred.
  • Utilize communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers.
  • Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.

Physical Requirements: Frequent physical activity includes walking, bending, standing, twisting, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., touching, reaching, gripping, finger dexterity, and hearing.  Moderate physical activity may include stooping, color identification, close vision, and depth perception. Under strenuous conditions, employees are still expected to perform their job requirements in a safe manner.

Environmental Factors: Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels.   Work requires wearing proper protective equipment.  Incumbent may work with rotating machinery and in a crowded area.
