At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare, well-being benefits, paid family leave as well as generous paid time off. Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K plan with company match and may include the opportunity to participate in our Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Position Summary
The Senior Wealth Advisor provides investment recommendations and advice to high value perspective and current clients. This position is a leadership role holding managerial responsibility for a team of professionals, and is responsible for providing comprehensive financial planning services to high-net-worth clients, developing customized wealth management strategies to help clients achieve their financial goals, and organic growth of practice (AUM)/Revenue. The Senior Wealth Advisor is responsible for championing the Midland brand, engaging in the community, and creating marketing events.
Primary Accountabilities
People
• Manages a team of professionals in a customer-centric culture to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Coaches, develops, and conducts performance management activities with direct and indirect reports.
• Identifies high-potential employees for advanced training and development opportunities.
• Effectively manages poor performers.
• Mentors and empowers team members to achieve top performance and to grow professionally.
Client Engagement and Financial Planning
• Responsible for setting financial goals and priorities for their team to achieve as part of the overall regional financials.
• Meets provides financial planning services to high-value clients within the book.
• Proactively reaches out to high-value prospects and clients to market financial planning, trust, and investment management services.
• Cultivates business relationships with centers of influence to expand clientele.
• Conducts comprehensive needs assessment for current and potential customers and provides on-going, holistic advice and counsel tailored to clients’ financial goals.
• Recommends appropriate products and services based on objectives, tax and estate needs, risk tolerance and asset allocations.
• Maintains regular contact with existing clients, beneficiaries, and referral sources to identify new sales opportunities.
• Identifies and refers business to other areas within the Bank as appropriate.
• Takes responsibility for growth in revenue and Assets Under Management (AUM).
• Runs and oversees the Profit and Loss (P&L) for the group.
Compliance
• Collaborates with compliance to ensure all activities adhere to state and federal regulatory requirements.
• Acts as financial expert to our clients and employees, staying abreast of industry updates, regulatory changes, economic trends, and financial markets.
Other
• Collaborates with marketing team to promote Midland’s Wealth Management services to include community involvement, social media, client engagement events, etc.
• Represents the Bank in community organizations and activities to enhance the Bank’s image.
• The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
• May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
• Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10 + years previous experience in investment management and/or financial advisory services with a demonstrated ability to develop, manage and maintain client relationships.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience leading teams with demonstrated success coaching and motivating team members.
• Series 7 / 65 / Life Health Insurance licensed.
• CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designation preferred.
• Sales oriented, friendly and persuasive personality.
• Professionalism and courtesy in dealing with customers and bank colleagues.
• High degree of accuracy with attention to detail required.
• Possess a fiduciary mentality, always doing what’s best for the client and maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others, interpret documents, and write reports and correspondence.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
