A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Letra and Dr. Silva, located within the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. The Letra/Silva Lab focuses on the genetics and molecular mechanisms underlying craniofacial anomalies and oral diseases, with a particular emphasis on endodontic pathologies and tissue repair. The lab employs a range of approaches including disease mouse models, RNA sequencing (RNAseq), flow cytometry, histology/immunohistochemistry, and various immunological and molecular biology techniques.
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, analyze and interpret data, and contribute to manuscript preparation. The postdoctoral associate will also participate in regular lab meetings and collaborate closely with other lab members and external partners. While prior experience with RNAseq, flow cytometry, animal models, and molecular techniques is preferred, it is not required. Technical training will be provided as needed.
In addition to hands-on research experience, the position offers opportunities for professional development, including training in grant writing, public speaking, and preparation of career development grant applications.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a PhD or an equivalent advanced professional degree in a relevant biomedical research field.
