Metro is seeking a Storekeeper to maintain a high degree of inventory accuracy and perform any and all storeroom functions with the utmost accountability and highest quality of customer service, with minimum instruction and supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Maintain the highest level of integrity, customer service and support for Metro's Vision.
  • Effectively utilize Metro's automated inventory management and barcoding systems to ensure a high degree of inventory accuracy.
  • Accurately conduct and record inventory transactions in a timely manner, including receiving, stocking, issuing, transferring, shipping, picking up and delivering parts, cores, equipment and supplies in accordance with established Metro procedures.
  • Assist in identifying and processing warranty returns.
  • Work as a team member in support of other storeroom personnel who may be backlogged. At the direction of the supervisor, may be required to work at any of the SORTA/Metro locations as assigned
  • Answer phones and fill orders from Metro's vehicle maintenance and facilities departments.
  • Maintain accurate records and files for shipping/receiving parts, cores, equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of storeroom areas and equipment.
  • Receive and process Material Safety Data Sheets in accordance with established Metro procedures.
  • Ensure that storerooms are properly secured, including limiting access to authorized personnel only.
  • Operate all material handling and moving equipment in a safe manner.
  • Conduct physical inventory and cycle counts, as required
  • Assist in the disposition of surplus materials and obsolete parts, as required.
  • Make recommendations for changes to improve customer service and improve storeroom efficiency.
  • Participate in training provided to storeroom personnel, as required.
  • Other duties as required, such as relocating shelving, rails, and/or storage and holding devices in the storeroom areas.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience
  • Basic computer skills and aptitude to learn and utilize computer systems and other related equipment.
  • Previous experience at a parts counter or in a storeroom position preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Certificates & Licenses
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to drive Authority vehicles/equipment.
  • Must successfully complete Metro's P.I.T. Pass Training.

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Have neat and legible handwriting.
  • Trustworthy, honest, and attentive to detail.
  • Able to unload vehicles and lift and carry parts, supplies and materials, up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in a safe manner in compliance with Metro safety policies.
  • Employees who require training in storeroom policies and procedures may be required to work a maximum of 10
  • days on first shift for initial training at the discretion of the Inventory Manager.
  • Employees with no storeroom experience may go through a pay grade progression for a maximum of 12 months.
