Job Purpose:

The Credit Associate will work in a collaborative environment that is focused on learning the foundational elements required to recognize and evaluate credit risks. The proficiencies gained over time will serve as a launching pad for a career in providing high-quality credit and banking services.


Skills and Proficiencies to be Developed:

  • Analysis & Underwriting: Review borrower financial reporting as received and spread statements using BakerHill software. Understand the basics of credit risk assessment, mitigation, and structuring. Learn to recognize the suite of financial products we offer at the bank and the scenarios they are most applicable to our customers. After developing a mastery of the primary job skills listed above, the Credit Associate will have the opportunity to start working directly on credit underwriting assignments. Additional skills to be developed may include drafting credit presentations, calculating risk ratings, analyzing personal and business financial documents and tax returns, analyzing collateral, and interpreting loan policy.
  • Credit Administration: Learn the 5 C's of Credit and how to recognize them in common loan structures. Understand the typical lifecycle of a loan, from origination to the final loan payment. Perform core system inquiries and updates on Fiserv. File, upload, index and search for credit and collateral loan documents using the bank's document imaging software (KnowledgeLake). Understand the basics of loan documentation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other roles involved in managing the credit portfolio at the bank, including but not limited to, Credit Analysts, Relationship Officers, Portfolio Managers, Coordinators, Loan Administrators, and Credit Officers.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Maintain our financial document tracking system. This includes collecting documents from lending teams, filing documents into our imaging software, creating and updating due date tracking, spreading financial statements, and initiating core system updates, when applicable.
  • Maintain our financial covenant tracking system. This includes collecting documents from lending teams, reviewing calculations for accuracy, confirming language in loan documents, and logging defaults, when applicable.
  • Work collaboratively with Relationship Officers and related staff to anticipate, identify, and collect documents needed for efficient and timely approvals on new and existing credits.
  • Compare credit presentations to loan documents to ensure consistency. The Credit Associate may assist with drafting waiver amendment modifications and file comments to acknowledge or fix discrepancies when identified.
  • Prepare basic credit presentations consistent with the knowledge and experience of the Credit Associate.
  • Assist with other credit administration projects, as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with an emphasis on business, finance, accounting, statistics, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of MS Office experience, including Excel and Word.
  • Alternatively, an associate's degree with an emphasis on business, accounting, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of work experience in financial services. Banking experience preferred. Work experience must include a minimum of two years of MS Office experience, including Excel and Word.

For this position, we anticipate a pay range between $20 and $30 hourly. Final offers will vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus based on individual and Bank performance.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to type, carry, handle and feel objects, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception in the window environment and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Local travel may be required for this position.
