ASMG is a rapidly growing vertically integrating pavement preservation company committed to delivering high-quality services and products to our clients. The receptionist at our headquarters is the initial point of contact to visitors, vendors, and employees You will assist in various administrative tasks that support our office operations. Your responsibilities will encompass scheduling for meetings, handling correspondence, and ensuring the smooth flow of communication within the office.


Job Summary

The Senior Cost Accountant role provides an opportunity to grow in a leadership position, and serves to help broaden a career path that is expected to advance as the company develops. On a routine basis, the Senior Cost Accountant will perform a variety of functions to ensure that cost of materials and inventory levels are accounted for accurately. The successful accountant will, like all members of the team, become the subject matter expert in all assigned areas. This position is exempt.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily processing of all activities related to inventory transfers, procurement, and production of liquid asphalt and related materials
  • Review and confirm daily monitoring of perpetual inventory for liquid asphalt
  • Regular monitoring and reporting of asphalt exchanges
  • Providing high level support to related Accounts Payable and Billing professionals to ensure accuracy of information related to procurement and sales involving inventory
  • Regular communication with senior management
  • Maintain appropriate systems for standard costing and internal pricing
  • Manage daily and monthly procedures for inventory production
  • Oversight of physical inventory reconciliation
  • Regular analysis and review of inventory adjustments, production & cost variances.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of general ledger accounts related to sales and direct cost of sales
  • Process monthly journal entries
  • Other analytical and accounting tasks may be assigned


Position Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting required, MBA/MSA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience and 2 years of experience in manufacturing or construction related industry preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced skills with standard office software (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
  • Demonstrates a high level of integrity and consistently projects an image of trustworthiness and reliability
  • Demonstrates a strong passion for continuous improvement, paired with natural professional curiosity and a discerning, skeptical approach
  • Proactive nature, with a sense of urgency to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, everchanging work environment
  • Analytical focus to be able to identify trends, discover causes of variances, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Confident and proactive, and the ability to make rapid decisions in the absence of data, and to communicate decisions and changes quickly and effectively
  • Ability to analyze and oversee detailed procedures, establish new procedures and identify improvements as needed


Independent Action:

Performs work independently within scope of established guidelines and practices. Consults with manager where clarification or exception to procedure may be required.


Work Conditions

Office setting with controlled temperature and minimal noise. Incumbent must be able to sit for extended periods of time and tolerate working at a computer for most of their work duties.
