ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and coordinate production activities through Task Leaders while utilizing current and future knowledge of the product, process, production methods, raw materials procedures, and equipment capabilities.
  • Conduct daily team meetings as required ensuring communication of company and/or departmental information to employees.
  • Establish and communicate production capacity and update as changes occur throughout the week.
  • Confer with management and engineering to establish production and quality control standards and to obtain data regarding quantities, specifications, and delivery dates.
  • Establish department metrics to minimize quality problems and to produce product at the lowest total cost.
  • Develop and implement programs to continuously improve yield, throughput rate as well as on time delivery to the customer.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, safety, sales, customer service, materials management and/or purchasing to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, equipment, and material.
  • Revise manpower needs and priorities as a result of operational changes and business needs.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements. Coordinate with other departments for implementation and to ensure an open feedback flow of knowledge and information.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance is met and that policies and work instructions are adhered to.
  • Work to develop programs and awareness to improve overall safety metrics and to support the overall safety program.
  • Ensure Process Change Notifications and Deviations are executed and documented as required.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and proper records are maintained in accordance within plant management system
  • Support employee training matrix for cross functional training of employees for redundancy coverage.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in human resource management to lead and motivate teams and to achieve results through designated leads.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires the ability to communicate and interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to establish process controls to achieve customer and internal product quality and lead time requirements.
  • Ability to manage hourly workforce to achieve a production schedule.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems and resolve with root cause analysis.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to establish measurable goals and objectives in support of departmental, plant, and corporate objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor degree in Management or Business discipline, Operations or other technical discipline or equivalent job related experience preferred.
  • Experience driving improvement through Lean Manufacturing or similar process improvement programs preferred.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not a requirement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50-100 pounds.
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the production area.
  • Ability to read measuring devices such as ruler, calibrated tape measure, etc.
  • Ability to sit and perform computer tasks as required for team management.
