We are looking for an individual who wants to be part of a team that provides exceptional service to our clients, and we have an immediate Full-Time opportunity for an experienced Planner within our Planning and Land Development team in Durango, Colorado.

We work with both the public and private sectors, so you can expect a variety of work and learning experiences. Responsibilities for this position include writing and preparation of Comprehensive Plans, Zoning Codes, City & County Planning Studies, Development Review and on-call planning services for local communities, entitlement services for development projects, assisting with the development and analysis of Urban Renewal Project areas, and conceptual layout and design of private development projects.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Community Planning, Environmental Design, Economics, Landscape Architecture, or related field.

  • Experienced professional with 5+ years of previous planning experience.

  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as a team, and client relation skills.

  • Previous experience coordinating and leading public presentations, meetings, or similar activities.

  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections/visits, etc.; Occasional overnight travel will be required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and previous experience with Community & Transportation Master Plans, Site Plans, Development Review and Land Use Plans.

  • Previous experience with Private Entitlement projects

  • Previous experience on projects utilizing Federal and/or State funding.

  • Understanding of economic development, fiscal analysis, or financial modeling

  • Strong spreadsheet modeling skills

  • AICP strongly preferred
