What You’ll Do
As an Underground Utility Locate Technician, you’ll be the first line of defense in preventing utility damages and ensuring safe excavation. Using advanced computer utility maps and specialized equipment, you'll locate underground infrastructure like cables and pipelines to keep our communities safe and connected.

What You’ll Earn
Starting pay: $18.00/hour and up, based on experience
Automatic increases: +$0.50/hour after 60 days, and another +$0.50/hour after 180 days

Key Responsibilities
Drive to job sites daily (50–200+ miles)
Use mapping tools and locating equipment to detect underground utilities
Mark utility locations with paint and flags
Communicate findings clearly to contractors and excavation crews
Respond to emergency call-outs per rotation schedule (if applicable)
Qualifications
Valid Driver’s License (required)
Ability to use a computer
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather
Strong work ethic and positive attitude
Utility locating or construction experience is a plus, but not required
Must be able to work overtime as needed
Physical Requirements
Walk up to 4–6 miles/day on uneven terrain
Sit for extended periods while driving
Lift up to 50 pounds
Work outdoors in all seasons
