RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Determine, request, execute and implement Capital Projects for Powder lab locations in USCA to drive efficiency and support growth.
    1. This position supports multiple USCA labs who specialize in powder coatings technologies.
    2. Capital projects can vary in size from small to large and can vary in scope from minor system upgrades to full green site development.
    3. Manage internal and external resource groups to ensure proper installation and performance of equipment and processes.
    4. Present financial justifications for capital projects (ROI, IRR, NPV, etc.).
  2. Act as a Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for powder equipment used in the lab and manufacturing.
  3. Update equipment and implement solutions to improve powder equipment in the lab, manufacturing, and the correlation between lab and plant.
  4. Create Standards and Guidelines to ensure successful leveraging of people, tools, and processes across the organization to quickly scale up all technologies.
  5. Evaluate New and/or Innovative R&D technologies and equipment that drive margin growth in our products.
  6. Ensure smooth timely transitions for all new products transferring into production.
  7. Establish lab scale up metrics that capture current customer pain and manufacturing pain, track metrics, and put in action plans to address issues that are causing customer pain and manufacturing pain.
  8. Work with the lab to formulate the best product for customer satisfaction and manufacturability.
  9. Quickly address scale-up delays or customer issues for first time makes by leading and hands-on troubleshooting problems as needed.
  10. Reduce the time from LWR entered to batch manufactured – establish, track, and improve the metric.

  11. Conduct PHA’s and JHAs as needed.

  12. Lead or support project management activities for new customer startups. Activities may vary depending on customer, but can include projects related to: permitting, system design, safety, production flow, part hanging, application selection, part trials, etc.

  13. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Commercial Engineering to improve our scale up process, formulation guides, process SOP’s/WI’s, first pass yield, manufacturing equipment, etc that is needed to fully support the business need.

  14. Manage the USCA lab capital plan by coordinating, budgeting, getting approval, and supporting lab managers to ensure R&D is meeting the budgeted capital spend.

  15. Create dashboards that communicate progress toward KPI’s and continuous improvement projects.


QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • 8 Yrs in Field Operations, Engineering, or related
  • 3 Yrs Project Execution (Site/Regional Level)
  • Successful execution of capex projects at the Regional/Divisional level
  • Tangible application of Engineering, Continuous Improvement, and Project Management.
  • Knowledge of general safety engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S Engineering Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical
  • Greenbelt or Blackbelt Certified
  • PMP Certification
  • Bilingual
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Expertise with Continuous Improvement.
  • Knowledge and understanding of pertinent NFPA & NEC codes.
  • Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP).
  • Familiarity/experience with AutoCAD, MS Project, MSExel, MSWord, MSPowerPoint, MS Visio.

Travel Requirements: Up to 50% Domestic and International
