Job Summary
The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky is seeking a full time laboratory technician to join the laboratory of Dr. Weikang Cai.
The lab focuses on using transgenic mouse models to understand the mechanisms of glial cells in depression and neuronal degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Daily tasks include preparing solutions, performing PCR, DNA and protein gel electrophoresis, and western blotting, immunostaining, cryostat sectioning, etc.
Additionally, the incumbent will serve a supportive role in ongoing projects by assisting with genotyping, injection, tissue collection and other essential tasks.
Based on experience and time availability, work may also involve organizing laboratory inventories and maintaining routine lab supplies.
Organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions are critical. Previous experience with mouse husbandry is preferred. Competitive salary will be based on experience.
