ABOUT THE ROLE
The Associate Director, eDiscovery Resources provide strategic leadership for and oversight of all aspects of managing and improving firmwide litigation eDiscovery Resource systems and practices. Direct and manage the development and execution of programs, processes, and procedures, ensuring alignment with firm vision and goals. Provide effective leadership and guidance to a team of eDiscovery Resources professionals. Promote department’s effectiveness, including assessing team and client needs, organizing and directing workflow, training, coaching and motivating team. Manage multi-million-dollar vendors and provide high level, complex support across U.S. and international offices. Ensure client service and satisfaction is attained in all relevant areas of the position.
- Lead ongoing development and strategic vision for providing effective case management services to the Firm’s clients; establish best practices and roles for all phases of eDiscovery, including planning, budgeting, collecting, and reporting tools.
- Lead ongoing implementation of evolving technology to effectively support the litigation practice; recommended practices and systems that are consistent across offices and in line with the business goals of the Firm and the eDiscovery strategic plan. Provide ongoing oversight and effect changes as may be needed.
- Direct management of temporary attorney document review program to support case teams and client requirements.
- Make strategic recommendations and tactical plans to ensure the litigation practice is using appropriate and cost-effective technologies to manage discovery process.
- Lead post-project analysis to discover workflow inefficiencies and obstacles; identify, design, and apply responsive quality control processes and improvements for the discovery process.
- Manage the development and maintenance of all ERM documentation relating to internal processes, workflow, and support information. Adjust as needed to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide appropriate eDiscovery and technology consulting services to clients, attorneys, paralegals and support staff.
- Oversee the development and delivery plan for training litigation case teams on effective document review protocol for both Firm and vendor technology, etc.; delegate processes and tasks as appropriate
- Ensure firmwide technical assistance is available for all Firm-supported litigation software and tools including various Online Review Tools.
- Actively communicate, market, and promote use of litigation technology, ERM services and products supported by the Firm.
- May assist with the administration of client extranets, case community pages, and document directories.
- Ensure that staff is knowledgeable and trained on professional and technical matters. Provide supportive coaching; set achievable, challenging team goals; develop skills of team members to ensure achievement of client service priorities. Ensure team is structured effectively to meet firm and client service objectives. Review billable hours to help manage effective distribution of work and to help ensure hours expectations are met.
- Develop standards and procedures for negotiating and interacting with vendors for outsourcing litigation projects; maintain and prepare recommendations on vendor contracts in collaboration with the Firm’s Sourcing Group for the Managing Director; maintain list of preferred vendors for outsourcing of litigation projects.
- Work with the Managing Director, Department and Practice Chairs, and Information Technology on training attorneys, paralegals and legal staff on the use of computer technology in case management, Firm’s technology tools, workflow and eDiscovery.
ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
- Minimum 7-9 years of experience in the field, with at least 2-3 years in a management role. Minimum 2 years large law firm experience required. Experience working across global organization is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Electronic Discovery issues and how they affect the litigation process.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of AI-driven eDiscovery and analytics tools (e.g. technology assisted review, machine learning, and generative AI solutions)
- Familiarity with computer hardware, software, and network technologies.
- Ability to identify strategic objectives within the position, and to act effectively on big picture priorities and business needs.
- Strong team player skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to strategize at a global level identifying how offices and functions will collaborate to achieve the business goals.
- Ability to analyze needs and to determine priorities based on business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills; ability to present complex ideas succinctly and clearly.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team based in different offices and time zones.
- A highly proactive, solution-oriented approach to work and interactions.
- Has a high level of credibility and influence with key decision makers across the firm.

Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus, overtime as applicable, health/welfare benefits, retirement contributions, paid holidays, and PTO. The range displayed is specifically for positions performed in those cities/states and may vary based on factors including but not limited to the following: local market data and ranges; an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience; and certain degrees, licensing, and certifications. New York, San Francisco, Palo Alto salary range: $184k to $260k
Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, Washington, D.C. salary range: $175k to $245k
Denver salary range: $164k to $230k
