How This Position Contributes to the Team

Responsible for leading and managing all financial planning & analysis, reporting and support for multiple committees and Board presentations. Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with organizational growth objectives and long-term vision. Experience with nonprofit committee support required. 

NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires working in the office (Alexandria, VA) 2 days every other week. Travel is required (up to 15% of the year) for meetings and events, including travel to WEF’s annual conference, WEFTEC.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Manage budgeting and responsible for multiyear forecasting to ensure timely and accurate reporting and recorded information; financial analysis; manage financial planning and prepare budget reports to Finance Committee for approval.
  • Serve as staff liaison for WEF’s Investment Team, Audit Committee and Finance Committee.  Prepare meeting agendas and presentation materials in advance of each meeting, document meeting minutes. Prepare presentations for Board meetings.
  • Provide appropriate analysis and recommendations for new strategic plan initiatives, assist with financial modeling and tracking for new strategic plan projects.
  • Bring substantial experience and knowledge to the management of all operational and strategic aspects of the organization’s finances; provide timely, insightful financial and management advice to the CFO as well as serving as a thought partner/financial strategist for WEF.
  • Provide financial leadership to and negotiation assistance with complex contracts.  Develop, manage and document contract management processes.
  • Review and oversight of all WEF payments; Facilitate Corporate Card program review and administration
  • Partner with Sales for incentive modeling; tracking and payment validation.
  • Oversee all financial and related policies, procedures, and internal controls; update as needed and present to Finance Committee for approval.
  • Create trainings and build capabilities among staff to understand and be accountable for budgets.
  • Collaborate across the senior team to proactively share information and provide a financial lens to others’ efforts.
  • Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, concise and tailored to each audience.
  • Assist with month-end reporting and annual audits and tax filings as needed.
  • Support the creation of a new general ledger system, scope requirements, RFP, transition, chart of accounts updates.
  • Other duties as assigned as applicable to the position

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong financial and operational experience, having worked in senior financial management roles, and with a minimum of 7+ years of experience; 1+ years of experience managing a team and being a team player.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, with advanced degree (MBA) and/or CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and financial management software (preferably Great Plains Dynamics) and related interfaces with databases required.
  • Experience with a not-for-profit organization essential; experience with a 501(c)(3) membership organization a plus; For-profit experience also a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills; ability to engage with different constituents towards a common goal.  
  • Bring substantial experience and knowledge to the management of all operational and strategic aspects of the organization’s finances; provide timely, insightful financial and management advice to the CFO as well as serving as a thought partner/financial strategist for WEF.
  • Knowledge of federal and local non-profit tax requirements and non-profit accounting required.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently implement and oversee robust fiscal management and reporting with experience leading annual budget, reporting, strategic financial analysis and forecasting.
  • Ability to translate complex financial reports, concepts and goals to individuals at all levels including financial and non-financial audiences.   

This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
