Position Summary
The Computer and Information Systems Analyst, Journeyman will support the Systems Engineering Department (SED) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The program is providing systems engineering support of weapons systems on various platforms including technical research and development of technologies, analysis, and documentation as part of the acquisition of Aircraft, Weapon, and Integrated Systems and the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle of a program.
Essential Functions
- Consult with managers to determine the role of information technology (IT) systems in an organization.
- Research different technologies to decide if they would increase the organization’s efficiency.
- Analyze costs and benefits of IT systems and upgrades to help managers decide which, if any, to install.
- Devise ways to add functionality to existing computer systems.
- Design new systems by configuring hardware and software.
- Oversee the installation and configuration of new systems and customize them for the organization.
- Test systems to ensure that they work as expected.
- Write instruction manuals and train the systems’ end users.
- Collects information to analyze and evaluate. Performs logical and physical system
design and reviews and prepares system documents and specifications.
- Conducts technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with system.
- Prepares reports, studies and documentation. Delivers presentations and participates in meetings.
- Works on special problem areas; administers complex areas of the network, security analysis, and planning.
- Works in mid-sized, client-server systems, in systems analysis, software design, software development, and database administration.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, and independent verification and validation techniques.
- Shall work independently and as part of a team in researching data and developing analytical techniques and methodologies.
- Must know system acquisition practices required to design, develop, integrate, test, and manufacture a major system is required.
- Responsible for assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions.
- Coordinates the review, adjudication, and staffing of technical and SE documentation. Provides status to company leadership as required.
- Manages the development and implementation of tools to conduct requirements management and traceability, configuration management, risk management, and data management.
- Assist with the resolution of all technical problems.

Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university.
- Must have a minimum of three (3) or more years of related work experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
Travel
- Travel throughout the United States and locations outside of the United States, including austere locations, may be required.
