Shift
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm; will require availability after hours and weekends as needed, will assist in on-call availability for legal issues that arise after standard working hours.
Job Summary
The Risk Management Associate General Counsel/UKHC serves as a key legal advisor within UK HealthCare, focusing on medico-legal risk management. This role provides expert legal counsel and support to healthcare providers, leadership, and staff, ensuring compliance with statutes, regulations, accreditation standards, and court rulings. Responsibilities include managing professional liability claims for outreach providers and UK affiliated hospitals and entities located outside of Fayette County, representing UKHC in legal proceedings, and liaising with external legal entities, including state and federal agencies. The position actively participates in policy development, provides legal oversight for outreach operations beyond Fayette County, and delivers risk education programs to healthcare staff. Key competencies include legal research, case assessment, negotiation, communication, and collaboration across internal and external stakeholders. Requires a JD with a minimum of 8 years legal experience and active Kentucky Bar membership.
