Summary/Objective:

The Electrical Shop Foreman's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Electrical trade's shop within our prefabrication facility, including safety, production, materials, and quality assurance over the course of the fabrication process.


Essential Functions:

  • Is responsible for safety compliance and adherence to all OSHA, and ACI safety standards. This may include but is not limited to safety meetings, taking corrective actions, administering aid, investigating accidents, and reporting on safety matters
  • Organizes shop labor to meet the demand of daily production goals as given by the shop's trade manager
  • Ensures shop production standards and tracking processes are being followed
  • Organizes and tracks stored materials on hand for production so the workers are provided with the materials needed to meet their daily production needs. This also includes storing, organizing, and staging of fabricated materials for shipping
  • Manages and tracks shop consumables for billing/ordering
  • Is responsible for the upkeep and monitoring of shop equipment and tool tracking
  • Provides and oversees quality control checking throughout the entire shop process from materials received and final product inspections prior to shipping
  • Works with the shop team to improve shop processes for safety, better efficiency, time management, and materials usage. This also includes working with and/or communicating with the shop's trade manager on such improvements
  • Provides ongoing training and development in best practices where needed
  • Provides information to the shop's manager for year-end reviews of our workers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required:

  • 5+ years of combined education and/or experience in/or a related field
  • Experience leading teams
  • Able to read construction drawings and blueprints
  • Good math and writing skills
  • Proficient computer skills in 2 or more of the following. (CAD, CAM, CNC, Bluebeam, M-Suite, Build Centrix, or Microsoft Office)
  • An understanding of shop equipment including related equipment maintenance upkeep
  • A general understanding of the necessary trade codes and best practices
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available to work assigned schedules

The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and may include but are not limited to the following:


Work Environment:

  • Works in a shop/manufacturing environment.
  • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
  • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

Physical Demands:

  • Site visits will require walking through existing buildings, industrial plants and/or on-going construction sites. This will involve stairs and at times ladders on multiple floors/levels
  • This role at times, may use construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools including powered machinery
  • While performing duties of the job, the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pulling reach overhead, stand/walk for long period of times, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

Travel:

  • May require travel (typically not required or overnight)

Preferred:

  • Trades education certificate, Journeyman, or an Associate's degree in a related field
  • Prior Military experience
  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
