Job Summary

The Senior Environmental Safety Manager plays a vital role in maintaining safety in the distribution center. This a hybrid position located in the Western Region and candidates who reside near major airports in LA, Fresno, Sacramento, Salt Lake City will be considered.

Under the direction of the Headquarters Director of Safety, this position will implement and oversee all aspects of the company safety programs for their assigned distribution centers in their division. These programs aim to prevent incidents and injuries. The Senior Environmental Manager will work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage division-wide safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to site safety managers within the division, ensuring consistency and alignment of safety practices across all locations.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes at divisional sites to identify potential hazards and risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with site management teams to address safety concerns and develop strategies to improve safety performance.
  • Lead divisional safety training sessions for employees, supervisors, and managers to promote awareness and understanding of safety protocols and best practices.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses at divisional sites to determine root causes and implement preventive measures to reduce the risk of recurrence.
  • Maintain records of safety incidents, inspections, training sessions, and compliance activities at the divisional level.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to workplace safety, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies at the divisional level and participate in audits and inspections as required.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in safety management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing multiple sites.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with site management teams and influence change at the divisional level.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs across multiple locations.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of integrity and professionalism, with a focus on supporting our team members and delivering for our customers.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred.

Physical Demands / Working Environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to various weather conditions and noise levels.
  • Ability to travel in assigned Division at least 50% of the time.
