Position Summary:

McCarthy is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time Crew Focused Associate position focused on Electrical Prefabrication within our Renewable Energy group. A successful candidate will create construction documents and details, using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Revit, to support the project teams. The preferred candidate will have a strong work ethic and a desire to learn and grow in their career.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare site specific, task specific, detailed electrical and construction installation documents, details, and installation packages in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for electrical prefabrication during the design phase to enhance installation efficiency, reduce waste, and improve jobsite safety
  • Collaborate with field teams and fabrication shops to develop and coordinate detailed prefab drawings, assemblies, and material takeoffs aligned with project schedules and installation sequencing
  • Integrate prefabrication strategies into electrical design packages by standardizing assemblies and optimizing layouts within Revit for off-site fabrication opportunities
  • Coordinate with BIM/VDC teams using Revit to model and validate prefab components, ensuring alignment with field conditions, constructability standards, and spatial constraints
  • Provide project support during the project construction phase working closely with precon, project superintendents, field installation team, and project manager(s)
  • Gather and request specific information from approved equipment submittals, other discipline trade partners on projects, and/or engineering and design teams necessary to complete design within scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to analyze a set of drawings looking for ways to make the installation more efficient and effective with best interest in McCarthy and the project owner
  • Prepare design guidelines, reference guides, reference details, abbreviations and symbols, etc. working with a team
  • Communicate technical aspects of a project with other disciplines in the department
  • Support the broader team in evaluating new technologies to increase design efficiencies

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4 year Construction Management/Engineering/VDC Degree or 2 year degree with 2 years of on the job experience required.
  • Excellent work ethic and ALL-IN mentality.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk products including Revit, AutoCAD, Revizto
  • Intermediate experience in Microsoft products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and navigate through construction drawings, electrical drawings, 1-line diagrams
  • Ability to size electrical cables/conductors and raceways including deratings and voltage drop
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code among other building code books, and the ability to read and navigate through them
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communications
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take on multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work and cooperate with others in a team environment
  • Ability to adapt with different project teams, personalities, project needs
  • Up to 15% travel flexibility to job sites across the country
