About the Position
Responsible for providing input on the strategic direction and leadership of the Company's tool department, in alignment with the overall mission, vision, values, and all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations. This position is accountable for management of the budget, job tool tools, and all processes for tools, supply chain, inventory, purchasing and repairs. This position also includes oversight for managing all warehouse and tool department functions, personnel and is accountable for tool software, vendor relations, and safe and reliable tools.

Day in the Life
- Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate tooling strategy aligned with business goals.
- Partners with senior leadership create key functional strategies, critical objectives and financial decisions affecting the operating units.
- Responsible for quality, cost, schedules, and implementation of tools across project sites.
- Leads the Company tool software to ensure tool management and job costing processes are in place for all regions and national projects.
- Drives tool integration across all operating units.
- Partners with all operating units and safety team to assess needs and identify safe and reliable tools and technologies.
- Manages the Company's tool warehouse operations, to include grounds maintenance, special events set-up, and freight management. Coordinates problem-solving discussions and actions to address critical issues with tools and equipment.
- Works with the ArchKey Solutions procurement team to negotiate pricing and rental rates with alliance partner tool vendors, manufacturers, and distributors. Maintains confidentiality of pricing information and negotiations related to tools, equipment, and project details.
- Attend project startup meetings and determine which branch the requested office tools and equipment should be deployed for each project. Ensures appropriate training, execution, and maintenance of applicable software systems are provided.
- Determines tools for purchase to ensure all tools deployed out to the field are of high quality.
- Audits tool inventories at regional and national sites, as well as service vans and maintenance customers. Supports project initiatives with the most affordable solutions.
- Manages the Company's tool budget, project monthly fees and tool charge billings, tools inventory and supply chain processes, including purchasing, deliveries, transportation, inventory control, tool and equipment rentals and tool repairs.
- Collaborates with project managers, foremen, office and field employees, customers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the appropriate tools are in supply, deployed properly and functioning well, and that related spending remains within budget.
- Creates and implements key communications, metrics, training, and accountability across the department to ensure maximum employee engagement. Clearly communicates key priorities to all stakeholders and leads by example. Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including OSHA regulations.
- Provides high-quality hiring, communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed. Advises and coaches employees and provides performance feedback regularly.
- Cultivates strong and cooperative working relationships with internal and external customers that reflect and support the Company's core values and meet or exceed the customer's expectations.
- Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
- Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
- Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in business, supply chain management, building construction or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum 7-9 years of rental, finance, or electrical construction experience in purchasing and tool operations or warehouse operations with a concentration in large commercial construction projects. Minimum 5 years of experience managing people. Previous experience with field installation preferred.
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, tools, systems, market conditions, OSHA requirements and trade practices. OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Experience with computerized purchasing and inventory systems and software. Experience and skills in establishing budgets and working with external vendors to negotiate purchases.
- In-depth work experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. Strong process orientation.
- Previous training, experience, and skills in project management.
- Superior listening, presentation, customer focus, negotiation, conflict management and persuasion skills, and the ability to influence employees at all levels, including senior management.
- Strong teamwork, coaching and mentoring skills. Effective troubleshooting, technical leadership, and time management skills. Strong financial, analytical, and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems with strategic thinking skills and detail orientation, and to drive timely and appropriate solutions across all business lines with self-initiative and sensitivity.
- Strong and professional team player, with effective collaboration, organizational and relationship building skills. Demonstrated elevated level of integrity and dependability. Ability to work with diverse work teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including high quality documentation and report preparation. Strong telephone communication skills.
Salary Range
- $ 63,000 - $90,400 annually, based on experience and qualifications
