Position: Saw Operator
Location: Bloomfield Plant – Bloomfield, NM

Hours of work: Full-time position with hours Monday – Friday 7:00-3:30


The Saw Operator works the saw area performing nesting and cutting materials on one or more horizontal saws. They are responsible for the organizing of and maintains area, assisting in other areas as directed by group leader, operating for truck, Job hoist and overhead cranes, assisting in loading and unloading material and general material handling, and participation in cycle counts and physical inventory activity.
 
 Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
 

  • Operate the horizontal band saws, cutting pipe, structural steel and other material from BOMs, Drawings or cut lists as directed by all group leaders
  • Assist with the off-loading of incoming material, and put it in the proper storage locations, operates fork truck, Operate jib hoist and crane
  • Nest material to ensure the most economical use for standard stock length
  • Transfer heat numbers and specification markings and SAP numbers on pipe
  • Identify (material spec and job) stack and deliver cut material to the appropriate area
  • Operate the iron worker to cut material as directed by the group leader
  • Responsible for the area to organize and maintain satisfactory housekeeping in the saw area, pipe rack scrap bin area
  • Change saw blades and assist with managing spare blades
  • Organize and maintain inventory and perform cycle counts and provide results production manager
  • Manage the material drops, and properly store them for future use or discard unusable drops
  • Work the annual physical inventory of pipe and structural storage area
     

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • A one-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred
  • 0-2 years of general labor experience is required
